Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

The comedian

Acclaimed writer for children and TV personality David Walliams is no longer with his UK book publisher, the company has said.

A spokesman for the publisher commented: "Following a thorough review, and with the guidance of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the decision was taken subsequent to an review of allegations of inappropriate behaviour directed at young women.

The firm did not confirm the motivations for this action, stating: "We refrain from speaking about confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Writing Journey

Walliams ranks among Britain's most prolific writers for young readers, with sales exceeding over six tens of millions of copies worldwide in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Several of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into TV movies.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books combined, which features a holiday title named *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins this past October.

A Dual Career

His initial claim to fame came on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE back in 2017 honoring his contributions to charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO in October.
